Aaron Stockholm (1756-1825) of Bushwick, Long Island moved to Dutchess County before the close of the Revolutionary War. He married and settled in Hopewell where he operated a mill on the Fishkill Creek, owned a general store, and a blacksmith and wagonmaker shop. In 1817 he built what we now call the “Aaron Stockholm House” for his son Andrew Stockholm.

The house is a two-story house, with a central hall. It retains an original triple window over the main entrance, original eaves-trim and window-cornices.

In 1992, John and Kathleen McHugh purchased the house along with five plus acres w/carriage barn and several original outbuildings.
