Step back in time to the Butternut Inn, where the warmth of home is heavily emphasized.

Our bedrooms are filled with country comforts, antique pieces that evoke fond memories of Home and Hearth, favorite things, country wallpapers, and collections of pottery and china. Not one of the 18 guest rooms is the same as another!
Depending on the season, our kitchen is filled with aromas of the past and present - apple pies, chocolate chip cookies, cinnamon buns, biscuits, muffins, scones, French toast, berry pancakes...All are prepared the old-fashioned way in our kitchen where many of our guests come to learn our culinary secrets.
A visit to Butternut Inn is like visiting friends in a country home, therefore it is our desire to stay small and personable.  Perhaps you, too, will come to consider Butternut as your home away from home as many of our guests have for the past decade.

Garden Paths

Stroll along our many garden paths leading to our cottage gardens filled with old-fashioned plantings and perennial herbs.  Rest alongside the fountain and Koi reflecting pond.
Explore our woodland path, enjoy a picnic along the river or in the Secret Treehouse where you can enjoy quiet conversation, a good book or a bottle of wine.  A romantic spot for proposals!
Enjoy beautiful, long range views of Mount Mansfield as you indulge yourself in a cooling swim in our beautifully landscaped kidney-shaped swimming pool.
