| The Allison House Inn is, itself, a historic landmark in North
Florida. Built in 1843, it remains among the oldest homes in the region. A decade after
commanding the wars of Indian Removal (1830s), General A.K. Allison, who later became
Governor of Florida, commissioned a house of classic style for his family. Atop tall brick pilings rose a gracious, Georgian double-parlored
structure. Its height, and spacious rooms and hallways suited perfectly the area's
temperate climate. The property remained in the Allison family into the 1890s. |

The Allison House Inn was built in 1843 and converted to a Bed and Breakfast in 1990. Located in Quincy, Florida, 20 miles west of Tallahassee, Florida, access to this historic community is easy from Interstate 10 and US Highway 90, which goes directly through Quincy. Situated in the center of a 36-square block historic district, the Inn is steeped in history. It was built by A K. Allison, who in 1865 became Governor of the State of Florida and signed the peace treaty with the Union, thus ending Florida's role in the Civil War. Earlier, A.K. Allison distinguished himself in the Indian Wars. The Inn is within walking distance to the town square of Quincy where there are numerous shops. A gracious Georgian double-parloured structure, the Inn is mindful of an English country manor filled with many antiques from the British Isles. The grounds and gardens of the Allison House Inn are lush with crepe myrtle, azaleas, camelias, bamboo, fig, pear and pecan trees. The climate very pleasant throughout the year. |
