Two passions of the Barr family are evident at the Brae Loch; fine
food well prepared and superb surroundings. We pride ourselves on being a
place where patrons can lose their cares and be caught up in a spirit of
by gone days. Victorian antiques, mellow tartan plaids, original stained
glass, gleaming crystal, silver, and pewter all delights the eye and relax
the mind.
Dressed in his kilt, Jim Barr often greets diners who are served by
attendants in kilts and traditional Glengarrie hats. The dining rooms are
intimate with lots of "nooks and crannies," fireplaces, tartan carpeting,
Scottish heirlooms, and an open grill where you can see the chefs working
their magic!
Guests often sit back and relax in our beautiful Victorian Lounge or in our
Wee Pub. Our extensive bar features the largest selection of single malt
Scotches in the area.
Every Sunday from September thru mid June (Father's Day
to be exact), we serve our fabulous Sunday Brunch Buffet. It runs from 11:00
a.m. til 2:00 p.m. Choose from over 80 items, including our famous dessert
table.
The Brae Loch Inn is the perfect setting for weddings,
banquets, and rehearsal dinners. We also feature conference facilities. Let
our catering service bring our fabulous food and impeccable service to the
location of your choice. We can tailor a menu to fit any needs.
OUR HISTORY
Four generations of central New Yorkers have cherished Brae Loch Inn as the
place to celebrate the special times in their lives. The warm and elegant
atmosphere was the vision of our Scottish father, Adam "Scotty" Brown. He
first opened the Brae Loch View (which means "Hill Lake View") overlooking
Skaneateles Lake, in 1946. With the help of his "twa boys", Grey & Pete,
and his wife, Eva, they turned an old farmhouse into a thriving restaurant.
In 1950, the Brae Loch relocated to its present location here in Cazenovia.
Today, it is still a family affair. Grey and his youngest son, Jim,
run the Brae Loch. Grey's eldest son, Tim, owns and operates the Glen Loch
Mill in Jamesville, NY.
The fourteen overnight rooms at the Brae Loch feature old world
antiques from the British Isles, the classic luxury of Stickley furniture,
and all the modern conveniences of home. Each room is decorated in a truly
unique and charming way. All of the rooms have their own private bath and
shower (except two, which have a shared bath). They all come with colored
TV, air conditioning, individual heat control, and in-room telephones. All
rooms include a continental breakfast from 7:30 til 10:00 every morning.
An example of the fine accommodations is the "Queen Elizabeth" room with
a lace topped king canopy bed, original hard wood floors, oriental rug, window
seat, and fireplace. In the "Adam & Eve" room, you will find a hand carved
four poster Harden king canopy bed and a two person jacuzzi. We also have
rooms that are perfect for single occupants as well as families.
