The
Mellow Manor B&BThe Mellow Manor in beautiful Overbrook Farms. Do you like antiques? Then you will love our unique home, designed in 1896 in a planned community as a twin house.
In
1915 massive changes were made when it was made into a single home. Additional
fireplaces, bay windows, French doors, porches and a 31/2 car garage were added...spacious
public rooms, dining room and parlor.
The
fireplace in the parlor has a souvenir brick from the McLean house at Appomattox
dated 1865. The upstairs fireplace has a brick from the home of Benjamin Franklin.
The dining room is papered with French hand screen wall covering and has a walk
in china closet.
The kitchen suite is
covered floor to ceiling with ceramic tile. The Quality stove is from the early
1900's made in north Philadelphia and is still used to roast the Thanksgiving
turkey. The porches and patios offer a homey invitation to your browsing and
enjoying the interesting pieces of garden statuary, gazebo and gardens. At the
head of the stairs on the second floor landing is a charming sitting area with
a fireplace.
In 1985 the Overbrook
Farms area was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. Mellow Manor
is centrally located for most of the colleges, hospitals, historic sites and
center city Philadelphia. If you arrive by train, we will be pleased to pick
you up. We serve an elegant breakfast. No smoking home.
